Corruption: A Modern-Day Fallacy

G rowing up my folks always emphasized the ethical value of charity always beginning at home. Back in those days the said proverb normally pushed me and my young brother towards our chore duties. Duty and rules make we humans the ever-evolving species that we are, without them we lie with the animals. A peep down in history will probably tally Corruption hand in hand with duty and rules, it’s not a thing to be amazed by nor is it a shocker, for even the good book in Proverbs says “where there no oxen the troughs are always clean”. But we are the superior specie hence this rule shouldn’t apply to us in its respective order rather, a corrupt free atmosphere is what is expected of every working human being. So, what is corruption ? For the sake of efficacy and the nature of the subject matter and the target perpetrators, I shall shun away from the common definition that involves bribes but rather focus on the literal origin of the word and define it with an air of philosophy. ...

The Ticket In The Jacket

After my supposed outburst at the most opulent purchase of one piece of apparel our country has ever seen, I decided to scour the web in search of the now legendary Red Jacket. Our national papers didn't have the images on their online platforms as to when it was been purchased but luckily for me they had the stories that made the said jacket famous and valuable. Often and not too many times great men are taken and quoted out of context, not because they are prone to been mistaken but often because their struggles are best left untouched and overlooked.  HH goes to High Court. The UPND fundraising party of getting to know the present was quite indeed a hefty affair, it got the who's who of our society dipping into their deep pockets just to get not a glimpse but the very façade of our Republican president is. The party was a success, it's organizers can now do more than just hope that their Party and it's reign is going to be a success. I dare not implicate the Presi...

THE HH NAWAKWI SAGA: A BAD EPISODE OF PRIDE AND PREJUDICE

We live in a nation where the politics that drive our governance system can sometimes leave a lot to be desired. The various national issues that need to be addressed are some what left unchecked, these are issues that now seem like they are left for the upper echelons of society to talk about and yet the people getting the bad end of stick or rather the bargain are folks well in tune to 94.9fm. Mavbuto siya sila mu komboni and yet for some reasons "us" komboni dwellers don't even know why our dear Miss Nawakwi is hot on her heels slowly sinking her teeth in our bally's neck?  Former Finance Minister The problems our country is currently facing won't disappear overnight, and neither will the world end if politicians for once, can act like they really care about the integrity of the citizenry. It is high time they stopped acting like an average Zambian is just some average Joe or Jane who has to nod to everything that is put on their table swallow any form of cods...

A Call To Action

Love is the strongest stuff ever! Two months of introspecting and soul searching has brought me to a point of no return. I guess am grown, am youthful in my endeavors, even if adversity is an everyday thing life has never been more vibrant than it is. I spent the whole vacation time i had listening to the whole album of the artist depicted on the left side and it left me questioning alot of human tendencies and traits. Drugs are a force to be reckoned with and the last thing an addict would need is hypocrisy where "using" is concerned. The same drug that calms down the rage of a taurus will trigger a virgo to lose his or her cool. Society at large is self-conceited where a gate way drug like Cannabis is concerned. We lack activists who can usher in new recreative ways for the use of these stimulants. Often the use of Cannabis requires a matured state of mind otherwise the paranoi that comes with the various effects of the drug use will inevitably lead one in rehab or in o...

Echoes of An Eco-System

The talks going on about how climate change is affecting the eco-system couldn't be as loud enough as they are across the global. Sadly though as loud as the sensitization is the trumpets are been blown on deaf ears as the effects become somewhat a sight for colour blind eyes. Recently Ethiopia boastfully announced to the rest of the world how it had managed to plant about a billion trees just between the months May and August, why? Prudence. We can't afford to turn blind eye nor turn colour blind for that matter to the harsh realities that are been infringed upon the environment. As much as it may take a few minutes to take down an Acacia Eucalyptus tree with a chainsaw machine the said tree in it's journey does a whole lot of good to the environment. On my regular mountain hikes in my now adoptive home town, i manage to scale the heights of the "mountain" like hills for a better view of the valley like town, with it's serpentine blue shimmering Ka...

PATIENCE OF PATIENTS: Simon Mwewa SAGA

What would a doctor with no compassion become in the long run? Every person on earth owes it to the rest of humanity to exhibit some empathy when in the company of those less fortunate than them. It might be a lot for others to ask you of this but, it’s the reasonable thing you need to ask of yourself. We are all equal not only in the eyes of the Universe but our hearts beat as one; our minds are no different nor are our thought process. With time though, as it is the determinant of all things great and beyond human understanding, the contents of our minds which are the treasures of humanity or should I say, treasure of humanity vary due to a diverse exposure of culture, language, customs or traditions as well as privileges or opportunities. That however should not be the reason why a person in a position of power or of great leverage should treat those they feel are beneath them with callousness, it takes but a moment to inspire a human being to do good or to create a thing of...

Decision making and Innovations of Third World Leaders.

We lost today's match, how sad for us all Zambians. We lost a lot more in that regard compared to the fact that we have a police force that needs adequate training in the way it handles riotous behaviour. Losing the football match was so sad, that a politician is busy out there making claims that the soul of the student who died as collateral damage in an unnecessary and unwarranted for debacle between the police and the students was that of a rotten apple, a bad egg so to say. Now while these over ambitious politicians are trying to get in the good graces of the Chief Resident of our dearly beloved nation, Fuel prices are at K16/ litre, Decisions Decisions Decisions!!! $100 a barrel? Will Iran sanctions and Venezuela crisis bring oil price spike?   The middle east despite of its wars and all the terrorism that even for a fraction of a second can not be likened to the type Chilufya Tayali was suggesting on this evening's news is the world's beacon of hope in the supp...

Social Media In A Third World Country

"We must avoid with our utmost endeavor, and amputate with fire and sword, and by all other means, from the body, sickness; from the soul, ignorance ; from the belly, luxury; from a city, sedition; from a family, discord; and from all things, excess."       Pythagoras I had a discussion some days ago that could have gone south and intense in a very short space of time. I would like to imagine my counterpart in the discussion was not out for blood in her replies to my responses, often are times when people who socialize online tend to have conversations on topics they take out of context. Here is what our argument was all about and how it ended Success, Money or Wealth and Health. As most of you will notice the probability of misunderstanding each other was extremely high in comparison to if this were a verbal discourse, such is what awaits everybody online trying to make their opinion heard even if theirs is one lacking in logic or factual content, which ...
